LETTER
RECEIVED FROM PARENTS OF CRAIG (38) GAD, AGORAPHOBIA SUFFERING FOR ALL OF ADULT
LIFE.
Hi Beth & Charles
Arthur and I wanted to say an enormous thank you to you both for the wonderful
Retreat and for helping our son in a way that no one ever has in the 15 years
he has been suffering. Charles made more sense in the hour that Craig
spent with him than any Psychiatrist or Psychologist has in the history of his
illness. If only we had found you years ago. I cannot explain the
feeling I had when I saw him smiling over dinner and interacting with other
people - something he hasn't done in 8 years since being a recluse. I
don't remember the last time my husband and I enjoyed a meal without Craig at
our side. It was so thrilling for us to look across the table and see him
engaging in conversation instead of being afraid to make eye contact with
anyone.
We have been to the GP this morning to talk about coming off his medication.
We all know it is going to be a long journey, considering the cocktail of drugs
he has been prescribed. We just want our son back and we have never been
more confident of getting this than now. God bless you all and thank you
from the bottom of our hearts
Betty, Arthur and Craig
EMAIL FROM MICHELLE, WIFE OF ALAN (48) WHO ATTENDED THE RETREAT IN FEBRUARY
2010. ALAN HAD BEEN SUFFERING FOR 18 YEARS WITH SEVERE AND DISABLING ANXIETY
AND MICHELLE, HIS WIFE, WAS ALMOST AT BREAKING POINT.
Hi Beth
Hope you and Charles are well. I just wanted to thank you
both so very much, Alan is doing fantastically well. Remember I told you our
garden was like a forest, well, as soon as he got back he got stuck in and
o.m.g Beth he’s only gone and done it! He worked real hard and never gave up. I
feel like a princess now in my beautiful garden. We chill out there
painting by numbers (ha ha). He’s followed the Linden Method step by step, and
boy has it paid off. I feel like I’m married to a new man and the children have
got their dad back. And to think that all this has been achieved in less than 3
months. I can’t believe it and we can’t thank you both enough. Alan wants to
drive down in person and thank you. Would that be oK? What sort of day and time
are you both at the Centre. We would love to see you … take care, speak soon,
love Michelle xxxx
AND THE NEXT DAY …. EMAIL FROM ALAN
Dearest Beth and Charles.
I would like to start by saying thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the help and support you have given me in those dark times (also to Fiona on phone support what a beautiful human being she is) You were the light that shone in that dark place and led me on my journey home. You are both doing such important and fantastic work for me and everybody like me who is locked in that mental prison and cannot find the key. You truely are gods messengers.....................
Life is great now, what a blessing life really is after emerging from where i
once was. I smell the flowers, feel the sun on my face, kiss and hug my wife and
children and grandchildren... o what a beautiful life this is. And on now to a
more giving note,i feel now that i would like show and teach other people like
me, because i feel i would like to give that to others like me they need help
and compassion like you have shown me. So, beth and charles if you would like
to use me to help others i would be extremely happy to do so,all you have to do
is ring.
so finally i would like to thank you again and your wonderful organisation. ALL
MY HEARTFELT THANKS.....LOVE YOU ALL.......LOVE AND LIGHT..........ALAN xxx
Message Received via Email (August 2010) from Cheryl, wife of Conrad (June
Retreat guest) who had suffered with GAD for most of his adult life.
When I met her at the Retreat she told me that her husband had not been away on
holiday with her and her children for over 5 years.
Beth! So lovely to hear from you! Tell Charles after much angst in the house,
Con booked himself a flight to Edinburgh - first time flying in 4 years. I was
fed up with it! I was so proud as he got really upset just driving past a sign
which said airport before attending the retreat, let alone going into the
airport. I would have been so happy if he just made it to the gate but as
it happens I found myself in Edinburgh with just a rucksack, no toilletries and
no spare knickers!!!! He did it. Hence I have managed to get him on a plane
this friday for our first family holiday in AGES!! A bonus being he hasn't made
us all miserable with his anxiety and he has maintained a quiet calm. I
am sooo excited Beth I can't begin to tell you or thank you enough! He has even
managed to resign from his job and take a new one. This is a huge step as last
year Con was having anxiety attacks and hiding in doorways in london. I'm V. V.
happy! Will post lots of pics on my facebook and pass on Charles' message. Give
Charles a big hug from me and thank him for his help. Lots of love and hugs 'a
very happy wife'!! Cxxx
EMAIL FROM JACKIE, WIFE OF DUNCAN (42) SUFFER OF GAD AND SEVERE PHOBIA OF
MOTORWAYS AND BEING TOO FAR FROM HOME
Hi Beth
How are you. Hope you had a great time on Friday Night.
Just a quick e-mail to thank you and the team for everything you did last week.
Everything from Gareth, Jenny, the Hotel (including the food) and you was just
perfect!!!
Just a quick update on Duncan…. One of Duncan’s fears was travelling away from
home and travelling on Motorways. On Friday afternoon we came home on the
M54!!! On Friday night when I was taking to my Mom on the telephone, telling
her how the week had gone, he suggested that I went shopping with her to
Telford Town Centre on Saturday afternoon (remember I was telling you that I
haven’t been able to leave him on his own for 5 years!) He said he had planned
to be working in the garden all day!!!!
We had no plans on Sunday so he said he would like to go out for the day…. We
went to Bridgnorth and RAF Cosford (not very exciting but we were out for
most of the day and we came home on the motorway, again!!) One of Duncan’s
other compulsion was to carry his Vicks Sinus, rescue remedy and his tablets
with him every time he left the house. I did not notice while we were away but
he stopped picking these up on Wednesday at the Hotel. Little things but they
all add up!!! He’s even talking positive about going on holiday (two weeks
tomorrow) although he has been moaning today about the temperature as it is 32
degrees in Egypt today (I can’t wait!!).
Once again… thanks for everything. We loved meeting you all …. we know we have
made some lifelong friends… can’t wait to see you all again at the party …..
will be in touch.
Take care xxx
Jackie
EMAIL From Ali (27). Suffering from GAD with severe depersonalization for 7
years. February 2010 Retreat Guest.
Hi Beth
Just a quick note to say 'hi' and to see how everyone is doing? I am going from
strength to strength and am enjoying life again! I even went to Spain for my
friend's hen weekend!!!! I have had a few texts from Eric, he's returned from
Italy and has a new job so is also going in the right direction. (Eric was a
Retreat guest also)
I met up with a friend from work today who has been off for four weeks with
anxiety! She could quite literally be me prior to my Linden experience!!!!! I
talked with her for four hours today and went through the fundamentals of the
Linden method. It makes me so sad as she is going through exactly what I went
through, looking for answers that just aren't there because there is nothing
actually wrong!!! She has been spending £150 per session on hypnotherapy and
seeing a nutrionist! If only doctors were recommending the Linden Method
instead of therapy and hypnosis!!!!!! I did give her the number for you guys
and said that you would be happy to talk to her about the method so I am hoping
that she will ring.
As I said before, if you are ever looking for someone to step into Gareth's
shoes, if only for one retreat, or if there is anything that I can do down here
in the South to promote the method then please bear me in mind. I am totally
passionate about the method and its results and will tell anyone that is
willing to listen all about it!!!
Anyway give my love to Jenny, Charles and Gareth and of course love to you.
Thank you all so much x
Lots of love Ali x x x x x x

(MARCH 2010 RETREAT CLIENT)
Dear All
Just writing to you to say a big thank you for all that you have done for me
and also Debbie. The hotel was amazing and our room, we could not have asked
for anything better. Debbie wants a new bed now!!!
You were all fantastic on the Retreat and since coming home things seem different.
Even whilst at the Retreat I started getting more positive about my recovery
and I’ve now started to enjoy life again.
A huge thanks to Gareth because if it wasn’t for him in the early hours of
Wednesday morning I would have given in and fled for home! Another huge thank
you to Beth who was so patient in putting me at ease whilst booking the
Retreat.
Finally, another huge thank you to Charles and Jenny …. They have done more for
me in three days than my therapist did in seven weeks. In fact, there is just
no comparison.
Hope to see you all at a re-union in the future.
David (and Debbie Smith) xxx

Thursday 20th May 2010
Dear Charles and Beth, Jenny and Gareth. Missing you already !!
A heartfelt THANKYOU for an amazing few days. I wish it could have lasted
longer!
Out of 10 I would give it 11 ! Everyone was so kind and helpful and it was also relaxed with no pressure. Being within a small group was also just right. I just can’t fault it!!! I am beginning to enjoy my retirement (finally) with my husband and family.
I have received an email from Harriet this today which was lovely. Hoping to keep in touch with some of the clients (friends now) and hoping there will be a reunion at the end of the year. With love and best wishes to some very special human beings… from Eva x
