Jackie Donkin - Nutritional Therapist
Nutritional Therapy is a holistic approach to health and nutrition, concentrating on the underlying cause rather than simply treating the symptoms. It encompasses the use of carefully compiled individual programmes for diet and lifestyle in order to alleviate or prevent ailments and promote optimal health.Nutritional therapists often work with patients, many of whom have been referred by medical practitioners, who have chronic health problems that conventional medicine finds difficult to treat. These may include allergies, digestive and bowel disorders, hormonal imbalances, fatigue, depression, stress or anxiety, auto-immune conditions, migraine, underlying parasitic and fungal infections, joint pain, infertility, skin disorders, being overweight. Increasingly, parents with an overweight child and/or a child with learning and behaviour difficulties seek to support their child with nutritional therapy as opposed to prescription medications.Recommendations may include guidance on natural detoxification, methods to support digestion and the absorption of nutrients, and guidelines to redress nutritional imbalances, sometimes with the appropriate use of supplementary nutrients.Jackie is general nutritional adviser to the organisation and educator at The Anxiety Recovery Retreats
